Bradley shop relocating to Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - Bradley Motorsports is moving its Indy Racing Northern Light Series operation to Indianapolis, lured by the vast motorsports resources available in the mecca of open-wheel racing. Team personnel, led by race engineer David Cripps, will begin the move shortly from the teams existing shop in suburban Denver to Indianapolis. Bradley Motorsports owner Brad Calkins hopes the move will help his son, Buzz, win the Northern Light Cup in 2001.

"Denver is still the home of Bradley Motorsports," Brad Calkins said. "We just feel that moving the actual race operations to Indianapolis allows us to take advantage of the resources available there.

"David has done a heck of a job finding quality, championship-caliber employees. Also the vast number of suppliers, services and Indy Racing Northern Light Series races in the Indianapolis area make this a no-lose situation.

"We had a lot of positives last year, but we also had a lot of mechanical failures. Having the race shop in Indianapolis and the additions in personnel should eliminate most of our weaknesses, and establish Bradley Motorsports as a front-runner in the Northern Light Series."

1996 Indy Racing League co-champion Buzz Calkins will continue to live in his native Denver.

"Our decision to move the race shop to Indy was based solely on the resources available in Indianapolis," Buzz Calkins said. "This is still a Denver, Colorado, team. Some of the guys are going to Indy to remain with the team, but Im still going to live in Denver and be active in the Denver community."
