Northern Light IRL: Hattori released from hospital uninjured after testing crash

INDIANAPOLIS- Indy Racing Northern Light Series driver Shigeaki Hattori was released from Methodist Hospital with no injuries Oct. 25 after crashing during testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, said Dr. Henry Bock, Speedway medical director.

Hattori, 37, made a half spin and hit the outside retaining wall at the exit of Turn 1 of the 2.5-mile oval while testing the EPSON G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone for newly merged Hubbard/Treadway Racing.

Hattori completed 145 laps of testing with a top speed of more than 219 mph. Hattori finished fifth in this seasons RaceSearch.com Rookie of the Year point standings despite competing in only five of nine races.
