AMA: 125cc Grand Prix Riders Added to AMA Superbike Weekend at Sears Point

SONOMA, Calif.- Sears Point Raceway announced today that it will host the first round of the Thousand Oaks Honda/HRC 125cc National Championships as part of its Progressive Motorcycle Insurance AMA Superbike Challenge weekend, May 5-7.

The Sears Point event will be the first in a five-race West Coast schedule for the 125 Grand Prix Riders Association. The GPRA will also compete in a five-race East Coast swing that will span from April-August.

The addition of the Thousand Oaks Honda/HRC event will give Sears Point Raceway seven exciting motorcycle racing categories that weekend, highlighted by the knee-dragging excitement of the AMA Superbikes, featuring defending Sears Point and national champion Mat Mladin of Yoshimura Suzuki.

The Progressive Motorcycle Insurance AMA Superbike Challenge Weekend will culminate Sonomafest 2000, presented by Cruise America. This 10-day soiree for motorcycle enthusiasts will span from April 28-May 7 and also feature the best in vintage motorcycle and motocross racing the first weekend at Vintage Motorcycles Days West (April 28-30).
