IROC/BRICKYARD 400: Live Internet coverage of Brickyard 400 and IROC at Indy Events

5 August 1999

THE AUTO CHANNEL Teams with Local TV & Radio Outlets to Present EXCLUSIVE Internet Broadcasts

AUTO CENTRAL - This weekend, Indianapolis Motor Speedway roars to life with two gigantic motor sports events: NASCAR's Brickyard 400 and IROC's season finale. Both events will receive extensive, unprecedented coverage on The Auto Channel Internetwork.

On Friday, August 6th, TACH will carry the complete live audio broadcast of the True Value International Race of Champions fourth and final race of the year. Defending IROC champion Mark Martin trails seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt by 20 points in the chase to the 1999 True Value IROC crown. Martin is Earnhardt's only contender according to the point's shake down. The race begins at 5pm Eastern time.

Then, at 6am Eastern time on Saturday, The Auto Channel will simulcast WRTV's entire seven-hour live "Breakfast at the Brickyard" pre-race Brickyard 400 show. "Breakfast at the Brickyard" features in-depth interviews with virtually all of the significant participants in the annual Winston Cup race: drivers, team owners, crew chiefs, and NASCAR personnel. In addition, the seven hour show reviews all of the qualifying events and behind-the-scene activities leading up to the race. There's also historical highlights from previous years, as well as a look at this year's other races and current standings.

The Auto Channel's Terry Callahan, Dave Treffer and Brian Yesowich will also be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the two event days, filing incisive reports and interviews.

Internet connectivity and location services are being provided by CHANNELSEEK.COM. ChannelSeek.com is a complete guide to all audio and video events on the internet, and offers Internet users a free "Remind Me" feature on every upcoming web event.

TACH's coverage and broadcasts can be accessed directly at "http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/brickyard400/1999" and at "http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/iroc/1999_xxiii". ChannelSeek.com will also provide direct access to all shows.

To watch and listen to the broadcasts Internet users will need the Windows Media Player, Beta version 6.2, which can be downloaded free and easily through The Auto Channel. All broadcasts will be available in multiple bandwidth streaming rates, from standard 28.8kbs to broadband.

The Auto Channel has been the only Internet entity to broadcast traditional television and radio shows over the Internet on a continuous basis since 1996. Programs such as RACELINE; INSIDE TRACK; AUTOWORLD; SPEEDWAY HEAT; THE C.A.R. SHOW; BOBBY LYCUS CAR CLINIC; OPEN ROAD RADIO; DRAG RACING TONIGHT; TEAM CHICAGO CHALLENGE and AUSTRALIAN INSIDE MOTOR SPORTS are presented over the Internet by The Auto Channel in a conventional broadcast manner: new episodes appear at specific days and times each week. However, unlike conventional broadcasting, the Internet then gives The Auto Channel the capability to archive all past episodes and make them available to viewers and listeners on a continuous on-demand basis.

At present, The Auto Channel has well over 2,000 streaming video TV ON THE NET programs, many of which are one hour or more in length. The programs cover all aspects of the automotive world, from documentaries to do-it-yourself instructionals, and from entertainment to competition. All programs are available without charge to any Internet user, anywhere in the world. The Auto Channel also broadcasts live from many major automotive venues and events. Earlier this year, The Auto Channel provided complete TV ON THE NET coverage of the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, the North American International Auto Show from Detroit, the Palm Springs Car Classic Auction & Show, nearly three weeks of exclusive Daytona Speedweeks broadcasts, and all the Diehard 500 Week events from Talladega Superspeedway.
