DRAG BIKES: 1999 AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series Fact Sheet

WHAT: 8th annual MRE Sunshine Nationals. The first stop of the eight race 1999 AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series.

WHERE: Gainesville Raceway. The track is located on County Road 225, 3.5 miles north of Gainesville Regional Airport. From Interstate 75, use County Road 340, Highway 441, Highway 331, or 53rd Avenue to County Road 225. From Highway 301, exit at County Road 225 and follow it to the track

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

FRIDAY: Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 9:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

SATURDAY: Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 9:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Some sportsman categories receive their first round of eliminations at 1:00 p.m.

SUNDAY: Gates open at 7:30 a.m. A non-denominational chapel service begins at 8:15 a.m.; sportsman categories enter eliminations at 9:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies and professional category eliminations begin at 11:00 a.m.

FEATURE: More than 500 racers in twelve categories of competition. Featuring Top Fuel bikes, the quickest motorcycle class in the world with speeds exceeding 230 mph, six second, nitrous oxide powered, Pro Mod Bikes, turbocharged Funny Bikes, the "factory hot rod" Pro Stock class, showroom stock street bikes, and several other classes in side-by-side racing. A manufacturers row featuring top vendors and manufacturers on display. A special paved motorcycle parking area is also available. On Saturday and Sunday, a Todd Colbert will perform a motorcycle stunt and wheelie show.

TICKETS: Adults $20 each day; $35 two-day; $40 three day, Juniors (2-12 years old) $5 each day, Children (under 2) are free with paid adult. AMA members and groups $15 per day with membership card and photo ID.
