NHRA: Tony Gillig to Run NHRA Pro Stock in 1999

26 December 1998

Lake Zurich, IL: Two-time IHRA National event winner and #2 in the IHRA Pro Stock points chase in 1998 will make the switch to NHRA in 1999. The 28 year old from Lake Zurich stated," I really enjoyed racing IHRA and all the people involved. The officials, personnel, fans and racers were great and I will miss all the friends I made over the last couple of years". Gillig adds; "The opportunity arose to race NHRA and we had to jump on it. We always wanted to make the switch and with my father's recent heart attack, we decided to just DO IT! We know it will be tough but we are up for the challenge."

Gillig and team plan to test their new Steve Schmidt engine, Ram clutch and G- Force 5-speed in Houston next month. Gillig will use his tried and true red and white Rick Jones Oldsmobile in the up coming season.
