New Show on IMS Radio Network to Feature Open-Wheel Stars

11 December 1998

INDIANAPOLIS- Racing fans can learn more about their favorite drivers, teams and series during "Track Talk," a new weekly show on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network that will debut in January 1999.

The one-hour show, hosted by IMS Radio Network anchor Mike King, will focus on open-wheel racing, including the Pep Boys Indy Racing League, USAC, Formula One and World of Outlaws. A weekly segment on NASCAR racing also will be included.

"Track Talk" will be produced live from 8-9 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Wednesday nights. IMS Radio Network affiliate stations can broadcast the show live or in another time slot during the week. Negotiations also are underway for a live broadcast site on the World Wide Web.

"We're excited about bringing 'Track Talk' to millions of racing fans," said Julio Fernandez, network director for the IMS Radio Network. "This fast-paced, fun show will help fans get an inside look at the stars of motorsports, especially open-wheel racing, and also help promote the series in which their favorite drivers compete. We can't wait to get started."

Live and taped driver interviews and previews of upcoming events will be featured on the show. Fans will be able to send questions to guests via e-mail.

ESPN television personality Bob Jenkins, the radio voice of the Indianapolis 500, and National Speed Sport News Editor Emeritus Chris Economaki will have commentary segments scheduled on the show. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Historian Donald Davidson also will provide historical reports and trivia on a regular basis.

Fans interested in listening to "Track Talk" in their area should call the station manager or program director of their local radio stations and encourage the stations to carry the show. For more information about "Track Talk," contact the IMS Radio Network at (317) 481-0060.
