Prep Racing: Lamb Qualifies Second at Sebring, Engine Trouble Stifles Race Day

19 September 1998

SEBRING, Florida - Driver Todd Lamb continues to turn heads with his outstanding driving performance in the Speedvision Cup Series Sports class. In qualifying for the Sebring Fall Festival, Todd drove the Van Cleef Racing TRD / Red Line Oil Toyota Supra #84 car to a second in class, 13th overall, starting position. This is the best grid placement for the #84 car in the 1998 season.

Todd's co-driver, Paul Arnold, took the green flag to start the 2 hour and 45 minute race. On lap 24, Paul handed the reins over to Todd. At this point the car was running fourth in class, only 20 seconds behind the leader who had not yet pitted. Todd spent nine laps working his way through traffic and gaining on the leaders, however, on lap 33 the engine let go and in a puff of smoke his race was over.

Todd Lamb - "Sebring's a fun track with a lot of passing opportunities and fast corners. The Van Cleef crew did a great job setting up the car. It was good to be so dominant in practice, but unfortunately our luck hasn't been so good in the races this year. I'm looking forward to Atlanta being a different story."
