PROSTAR: Fast By Gast Six Second Club Expanded

26 August 1998

GRAND ISLAND, New York -- Fast By Gast founder Paul Gast announced today that he has extended his Six Second Club to ten spots, instead of the eight original positions that he originally established two years ago .

The extra two spots were filled by Dave Lombardi, who in his rookie season ran the second quickest pass ever in the sport; 6.88-seconds, and ran more consistent six-second runs in an event then anybody prior, and by Scott Valetti, who ran 6.94-seconds in the second round of eliminations and lost, ironically, to Dave Lombardi.

"I started this club to recognize the outstanding runs that were to come as bikes first entered the six second zone in Pro Modified" explained Gast. "It was not about how many, it was about achievement and these two young men could not be overlooked."

Valetti and Lombardi, along with the man who captured the eighth spot, George Babor, who also ran a his first six-second elapsed time after a several year layoff in Indy, will be receiving their commemerative plaques during opening ceremonies at the 34th annual US Motorcycle Nationals in Atco, New Jersey, on September 13th.
