"My crew just did an incredible job today. We didnt qualify as well as we had practiced because I got loose up in turn three and four. I had to gather it up and then be careful to make sure we got one decent lap out of it. Then we had some problems in the final practice last night. Bryant (Frazier, crew chief) and I sat down at dinner and discussed what we needed to do to the car for the race."

"We started out just a little tight and kept getting tighter and tighter the longer the green flag run. During both pit stops, the guys made several big adjustments to loosen up the car. The crew just had awesome stops. That first stop, they told me we had a 17.9 second stop. We went down pit road in 12th and went back out in seventh."

"Then Bryant made the great call to come in with some of the leaders on that yellow just past half way. We were running fifth and went back out 16th but knew we could go all the way to the end of the race from that point. The guys that didnt stop that time were going to have to stop again so that kept moving us up toward the front. We were good, but not quite good enough to run down Buckshot."

"We just tried to race smart and stay out of trouble to get a good finish. I just cant say enough about my crew. They got the car better and better. The motor was stout and the Goodyear tires were great."

"I am really proud of this Shell Pontiac crew--this is their second place. We keep sneaking up on a win. We will get one yet for Joe Gibbs Racing, Shell and Pontiac."
