ISC CHAIRMAN AND CEO BILL FRANCE EXPECTED TO RECOVER
                   FULLY FOLLOWING ANGIOPLASTY PROCEDURE

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - (Nov. 21, 1997) - International Speedway Corporation
Chairman and CEO Bill FRance is resting comfortably in satisfactory condition
at a Japanese hospital following an angioplasty procedure. The company
expects Mr. France to make a complete recovery.

Mr. France complained of shortness of breath upon arriving in Tokyo late
Friday afternoon local time, for Sunday's NASCAR Thunder Special -- Suzuka
exhibition race. After a series of tests at a local hospital, doctors
determined that he had experienced a mild coronary incident and recommended
the procedure, which was performed under a local anesthetic. Mr. France, 64,
has no prior history of cardiac ailments.

"We have spoken directly with Bill and he is cheerful, alert and resting
comfortably," stated International Speedway Corporation President Jim France,
who is the brother of Bill France. "Because of the nature of Bill's visit to
Japan, he has been accompanied by a number of business associates, including
one of NASCAR's team physicians. We are also very appreciative for the
responsiveness and care of the Japanese medical community."

International Speedway Corporation is a leading promoter of motorsports
activities in the United States, currently promoting over 70 events annually.
