Metcalf Wins NASCAR Featherlite Tour 1997 Rookie of the Year Award

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA - John Metcalf has clinched the NASCAR Featherlite Tour's 1997 Rookie of the Year Award. Metcalf clinched the award by finishing ninth in the Port City200 at Mesa Marin Raceway. Metcalf was the top finishing rookie in the race and has 164 ROY points with one race remaining and a maximum of 10 points available. Matt Crafton, Tulare, Calif., is second in the Rookie standings with 150 points. Crafton was 17th at Mesa Marin. Metcalf, Aurora, Colo., drives a Chevrolet prepared by the REMAX Racing Team. The final race of the season will be the Oct. 31 REMAX 300K at Phoenix International Raceway. By NASCAR Public Relations
