The Auto Channel's Complete New Car Buyers Guide gives Wholesale & Retail Prices, Hundreds of Specification Comparisons, and SPEC-IT BID-IT BUY-IT Capabilities For Immediate Release LOUISVILLE, KY., & SACRAMENTO, CA., SEPTEMBER 5, 1997 - The Auto Channel announces the on-line publication of its 1998 New Car Buyers Guide. It is the internet's first comprehensive listing of 1998 prices, and it will be the most complete and accurate resource of its kind. At the heart of TACH's Buyers Guide is a dynamic relational database, which includes retail prices, wholesale dealer prices, option packages, and shipping charges. Attached directly to the database are categories containing Recall Information, NHTSA Crash Test Results, and a Clic-2 comparison feature that compares over 150 different dimension and performance data categories. The interactive interface on the New Car Buyers Guide is the easiest to use of any automotive price guide on the web. In one fell-swoop, users can select the make and body style for any vehicle they're looking for. Or, they can retrieve wholesale and retail pricing information on a manufacturer's entire line. However, the biggest innovation regarding TACH's New Car Buyers Guide is SPEC-IT BID-IT BUY-IT, which allows car shoppers to quickly fill out a TACH New Car Purchase Request form. This form lists the make, model, and options chosen; along with actual factory codes, total MSRP, and dealer invoice cost. It can then be immediately printed out, to be taken or faxed to the dealer(s) of their choice. A separate database on The Auto Channel contains every new car dealer in the United States. According to Bob Gordon, President of The Auto Channel, "TACH is designed to empower consumers with the knowledge and tools they need to fight and win the car buying war. Before they buy, a smart shopper can come to The Auto Channel to find out what the exact standard and option features are, what they cost, how much the dealer is making, how the vehicle they're interested in compares to other vehicles, and if the vehicle has a good or bad safety and recall track record." "Now this is what using the internet is all about", Gordon added. "Since going on-line in January 1996, we've had the best new and used car pricing information on the internet. However, we were not as well known as Kelley or Edmunds or Carpoint, so we didn't get as much attention. But our new Buyers Guide will absolutely blow everyone away." The Auto Channel comprises 18 subject sections, including New Vehicles, Motor Sports, Parts & Accessories, Repair & Maintenance, Motor Homes, Consumer Affairs, and Industry. It has over 100,000 pages of information, thousands of photos, hundreds of new vehicle reviews for each of the last 4 model years, more than 300 'streaming' video programs, and live video and audio coverage of major automotive events. The New Car Price Guide and Car Dealer databases are just two of 14 searchable databases available on The Auto Channel. Visitors to the TACH internet network will also find a complete Used Car Price Guide, a Motorcycle Price Guide, worldwide Automobile Museum database, Videotape Library database and more.
