Derrike Cope Signs with NASCAR BGN Team for 1998; Kraft Foods to Sponsor Races

2 September 1997

DARLINGTON, SC - Derrike Cope will return to the NASCAR Busch Series Grand
National Division on a limited basis for 1998 behind the wheel of the #92
Martin/Weiss Chevrolet.

Mac Martin, a team owner since 1984, also returns to the series after a
one-season hiatus having joined forces with crew chief and former car owner
Tim Weiss at the end of 1996.

Kraft Foods will provide sponsorship for the sixteen-race schedule through
the Kraft Singles, Bull's Eye Barbecue Sauce, Taco Bell Home Originals, and
Jell-o Desserts brands.

I wasn't really planning on returning to Busch racing at first," said Cope.
"Mac Martin and Tim Weiss have put together an outstanding organization. I
felt like it was time to go back to Busch Grand National racing on a limited
basis at conjuntion (with Winston Cup) races. I can use the time on the race
track prior to my Winston Cup efforts."

Cope has not yet announced his Winston Cup plans for 1998 after MB2
Motorsports announced that their affiliation with the driver will end
following the 1997 season.
