Kenny Wallace on Pole for Goody's Headache Powder 500

BRISTOL, TN - Kenny Wallace recorded a lap at 123.039 mph around the 0.533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway to capture his second Busch Pole award of the 1997 Winston Cup season.

The #81 Square D Thunderbird will lead the field to green for Saturday's Goody's Headache Powders 500, the 22nd of 32 races.

Current series points leader Jeff Gordon will start on the outside of the front row. Dale Jarrett, Dick Trickle and Mark Martin round out the top five.

Forty-five drivers took qualifying times with the top twenty-five earning starting positions for tomorrow's 266.5-mile event. Second round qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 pm (EDT).
