PSR and Toyo Tire Continue Contract; Spin Experience Set for 1988 PSR Schedule

5 August 1997

Officials from Toyo Tire USA and Professional SportsCar Racing recently announced that Toyo will continue as the official tire of the PSR Endurance Stock SportsCar Series for the next three years.

Toyo Motorsports Manager, Roy Dencklau commented "We're proud to renew our commitment to SportsCar." He further commented that "Toyo has built a good foundation over the last three years by exhibiting the performance, durability and quality of the Toyo product to drivers and spectators in a variety of conditions." Jack Long, CEO/President of SportsCar added "We're pleased to have Toyo returning and are excited about their promotional plans for the [Championship] Cup.

Toyo tires became the official tire of the Endurance StreetCar Championship in 1995. All competitors are required to use the street legal DOT-approved Toyo Proxes RA-1 tire.

In other related PSR news...Officials from Warner/Avalon and PSR announced they will be developing the "Spin Experience" music and lifestyle festivals in conjunction with the SportsCar schedule of races. The tour will consist of music artists from the Warner Music Group. Brian Murphy, managing partner of Warner/Avalon commented "We recognize the growth of racing and feel there is a great opportunity with SportsCar. Just as country music has become synonymous with NASCAR, we feel there's a great tie-in opportunity with SportsCar. Certainly, everybody has a favorite convertible, top down cruising song."

The "Spin Experience" is scheduled to begin during the 1998 SportsCar season. The shows will feature many automobile and lifestyle exhibits in addition to the live concerts.

For those that remember the involvement of RJR Tobacco through the Camel brand name in the 1980's this will be an updated, diversified version of the manufacturer's midway with major concert groups thrown into the mix.
