The Auto Channel to Present Complete Live Video Coverage of Newport Beach Classic Car Auction

21 June 1997

Newport Beach Summer '97 Auction & Show
is the First Auto Auction to be seen Live on the Internet

For Immediate Release

LOUISVILLE, KY & SACRAMENTO, CA; June 20, 1997 -- The Auto
Channel and Dan Kruse Classic Car Productions have announced a
cooperative effort to bring the "Newport Beach Summer '97 Classic Car
Auction & Show" to the screens of internet users and car lovers all
over the world. The three day event, July 11th through 13th, will
feature nearly 300 collector cars, many of them rare and highly
desirable.

A live 60 minute video preview of the vehicles to be sold will
be cybercast at 1pm PDT on Friday, July 11th. The auction itself will
commence on Saturday at 10am PDT, and continue Sunday at 10am PDT.
Complete live video coverage on both Saturday and Sunday will run at
least 5 hours each day.

The auction and previews cybercasts will be accessible through
both The Auto Channel at "http://www.theautochannel.com" and through
the Dan Kruse Classic Car Productions' website at
"http://www.dkccp.com".

The technology used by The Auto Channel to cybercast the video
coverage will be VXtreme. VXtreme is a proprietary "real time video
streaming" technology developed by VXtreme, Inc., of Sunnyvale,
California. VXtreme allows internet users to watch live and
pre-recorded video in real-time, without the frustrating wait of
excessive download times. Although there are other real-time video
products on the market for use on the web, VXtreme's enhanced
resolution and increased frame rate, even over a 28.8 kbs modem,
provides internet users with the closest "TV like" experience. Over a
28.8 modem, typical frame rates average between 8 and 10 frames per
second, and with a 56 kbs ISDN or X2 connection, frame rates average
12 to 15 frames per second.

Internet users who wish to watch this history making coverage
will need the VXtreme player software, which is available free and can
be downloaded from the VXtreme website at "http://www.microsoft.com/netshow/vxtreme/software.htm".
Installation is completed quickly and easily into both Netscape and
Explorer browsers.

The Auto Channel is sponsored by Pennzoil Products Company,
Allstate Insurance, and the United States Army.
