GMAC Introduces Two-Minute 'Express Application'
DETROIT, Jan. 16 -- Customers of General Motors
dealers in the United States and Canada are enjoying the benefits of GMAC's
(General Motors Acceptance Corporation) new Express Application. The form is
shorter, simpler -- it has 42 fewer lines and can be filled out in as little
as two minutes -- and available both in dealerships and on the Internet. The
roll out for the GMAC Express Application in North America is complete, after
a year-long pilot. GMAC is the first financial services company to provide
credit applications over the Internet, and this shorter form is the
centerpiece of GMAC's customer-friendly Express Application process.
"The idea behind the Express Application is to make the credit-review
process as convenient as possible for retail customers and dealership
personnel," says John Gibson, executive vice president of GMAC's North
American Operations. "Anytime you make the buying process easier you have a
competitive advantage and more satisfied customers."
GMAC's Express Application is a single-sided, letter-size form --
considerably less customer information is requested than what was required on
the legal-size form it replaces. GMAC's Express Application can be used for
both leasing and conventional financing. Customer and dealer feedback about
the Express Application has been very positive. A GMAC survey of dealers
reports that 80% of respondents favored the Express Application. In addition,
72% of retail customers surveyed said they also preferred the new application.
The Express Application is available on the Internet on GMAC's
SMARTTOWN(SM) web site at http://www.gmacfs.com and on GM's web site at
http://www.gm.com. The application is also available through GMAC's Express
Application Service on Reynolds and Reynolds' DealerNet(R) web site at
http://www.dealernet.com. Last year, GMAC became the first automotive
financial services company to offer consumers and dealers an on-line credit
application service over the Internet.
"With the GMAC Express Application available on the Internet and at GM
dealerships throughout North America, consumers can apply for retail and lease
financing easier and faster than with any other automotive finance source in
North America," says Gibson.
GMAC Financial Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors, is
one of the world's largest financial services companies. Since its founding
in 1919, GMAC has extended $861 billion in credit to help finance more than
138 million cars and trucks in 32 countries around the world. GMAC's Internet
web site address is http://www.gmacfs.com.
