Nissan to Offer "Internet Car" Models

12/31/96

Reuters reports that Japan's Nissan Motor Co. will start selling cars on the Internet during the summer of 1997. The company plans for Internet users to buy cars from home using electronic catalogs on Nissan's website. Nissan will advertise special 'Internet car' models--variants of existing models which will only be available through the Internet.

Nissan's plan is to sell cars cheaper across the Internet, as the company thinks the website/catalog will help it cut promotion costs for advertising and marketing. The company's website will feature full color images and detailed information on the models for sale.
