New Diesel Exhaust Filter From Mitsubishi

12/20/96

Mitsubishi Motors has developed a system for cleaning up the exhaust from diesel engines. The new system, called Mitsubishi DPF, is to be installed next year in the public transit bus fleet in Yokohama, Japan, as part of an attempt to meet new Japanese reduced-emissions standards.

The Mitsubishi DPF system relies on a special ceramic filter that removes pollutants from the exhaust and periodically burns them up. The system has the advantage that it can be easily installed on existing vehicles as well as new ones.
