BMW Shatters 100,000-Unit Luxury Car Sales Ceiling

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 10 -- With demand for its
vehicles higher than ever, BMW of North America, Inc. today announced
it has now sold more than 100,000 vehicles, marking the first time BMW
has hit that milestone in a single year.

The achievement also marks the first time that a German luxury import
has sold more than 100,000 vehicles in a single year, confirming BMW's
position as top-selling luxury import in the U.S.

"In a passenger car market that's down 1.5 percent year-to-date, BMW's
sales were up 15.3 percent," explained Victor Doolan, head of BMW
sales and marketing in the U.S. "Moreover, our sales growth over the
past five years has increased an unmatched 87 percent."

BMW entered the North American market in 1975. Since then the company
has grown to include marketing, sales and financial services
organizations in the United States and Canada; a South Carolina
manufacturing operation; a design firm in California; and various
other operations throughout the U.S. and Canada. BMW is represented in
North America through a network of 378 automobile and 190 motorcycle
retailers in the United States and Canada. BMW (US) Holding Corp., the
brand's North American headquarters, is located in Woodcliff Lake, New
Jersey.
