Nissan Sells Adapter Kits for Hand-Free Cell Phone Use

Nikkei English News reports that Nissan Motor Co. announced that it has begun to sell a kit to adapt the cellular phones in cars for hand-free use. Nissan says the kit works with any make or model of cellular phone. The kit contains a microphone that can be mounted on the inside of the front windshield pillar. Drivers need only switch the phone on to make or receive calls without having to holding the phone.

Nissan sells the kit in Japan for about $280-330. It also offers the equipment as an option on select Japanese cars. The company plans to offer the cell phone kit on more cars in the future.
