Kia Sportage to Get a Soft Top (kinda) for 1997

Kia's Sportage, the four-door, four-wheel drive, compact sport utility, will get a semi-convertible treatment as a 2-door offering for 1997. The soft top will cover the rear two seats, making the vehicle look like a mini version of an Isuzu Amigo or Suzuki X90. What the rationale for a semi convertible might be escapes us, but Kia will build the units and sell them only in the U.S. They will be priced below the hardtop.
