Daewoo Motors Re-schedules U.S. Launch until 1998

12/04/96

There has been a lot of talk about Daewoo Motors intention to enter the U.S. market soon, but the Korean automaker's launch has been reset for spring of 1998. The company does manufacture automobiles, most notably the Festiva for Ford, but they have a few minor hurdles to confront before making their mark on the overstuffed U.S. auto market.

For instance, they have no U.S. President, no dealers, no cars, no roll out/marketing plan, and no U.S. headquarters, although they do have a PR firm in Costa Mesa, California. There has been talk about selling cars at K-Mart (Sears tried this years ago, and it flopped). Daewoo does have the Lanos sedan and an X100 coupe that looks like a Pontiac LeMans.
