Is BMW Serious About a New Sports Utility?

It has been rumored for some time that BMW will enter the lucrative SUV market segment, especially since they now own a hunk of Range Rover. Their goal would be to compete with the new Mercedes M Class SUV. The vehicle's code name is E53 and will come with an inline 6 motor or a V-8. It is expected to have BMW ride characteristics and Range Rover all-terrain capability.
