Subaru Announces November Sales

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Dec. 2 -- Subaru of America,
Inc. (SOA) today announced its November sales results. Subaru vehicle
sales hit a year-to-date total of 108,533 total units -- up 22 percent
over the same period in 1995. November sales were 11,072 total units
-- up 21 percent vs. November 1995. This figure represents the
company's 13th consecutive month of year-over-year increases.

Subaru retail sales remain strong. To date, the company has sold more
in retail sales during 1996 than it did total sales in 1995. Subaru
posted retail sales of 9,643 with Legacy accounting for 7,186 of those
sales. Subaru Outback sales remain strong with 4,180 retail sales. In
addition, Outback Sport, the newest member of the Outback family,
represented 1,388 retail sales.

Subaru of America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy
Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered near Philadelphia, the company
markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through
a network of 630 franchised dealers across the United States. All
Legacy models sold in the U.S., including the Subaru Outback, are
assembled at the company's manufacturing plant, Subaru-Isuzu
Automotive, Inc. near Lafayette, Ind.
