Ford Alternative Fuel Update

12/03/96

Three months ago TACH drove a Ford Taurus Alternative Fuel Vehicle around Chicago, Illinois for three days and found it to be a very practical vehicle. Ford is stepping up its AFV programs which started in 1996. They have research and fleet programs for methanol, ethanol, propane, natural gas, and electric vehicles, and they have put the entire global program into a single operation headed up by John Wallace. Wallace was formerly in charge of Ford's electric vehicle program, and maintains that Ford has the broadest AFV program of any auto manufacturer.
