Mitsubishi Motors Takes the Japan Car of the Year Award

Nikkei English News reports that two Mitsubishi Motors Corporation vehicles won the Japan Car of the Year award for 1996-1997. The corporation's Galant sedan and Legnum station wagon took the honors, which were announced last Friday by members of the contest committee that awarded the prize. Contest committee members said Friday that the two cars won the highest number of points in the vote conducted among the 57 members of the committee. The cars won because of their fuel efficient engines based on new direct-injection technology. The prize is awarded to the most outstanding passenger car of the model year.
