GM Takes Historic Step With First EV1 Drive-Away

LANSING, Mich., Nov. 14 -- General Motors took
another historic stop with the EV1 electric car today with the first
official "drive-away" of vehicles from the Lansing Craft Centre.

Saturn has announced that EV1 will be available starting December 5 at
26 of its retail facilities in the greater Los Angeles, San Diego,
Phoenix and Tucson marketing areas.

Commenting at "drive-away" ceremonies at the EV1 plant in Lansing, GM
Chairman John F. Smith, Jr. said, "The lessons we learn from the EV1's
performance in the marketplace will be critical as we continue our
efforts to improve the automobile in ways that customers and society
will demand in the future. For that reason, the EV1's influence on the
continuing evolution of the automobile promises to go far beyond its
initial sales impact."
