ACDelco Announces All-Makes Brake Line

11/08/96

DuraStop is ACDelco's New All-Makes Brake Line

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 6 -- ACDelco's new brake line -- DuraStop
-- is designed to send a strong message to consumers and the
competition that ACDelco is serious about its all-makes strategy.

"DuraStop is a premium, aftermarket-focused, all-makes expansion of
the current GM-only original equipment line of brakes," said Michael
Fellberg, general product manager for steering and drive systems for
General Motors Service Parts Operations (SPO). "This line is the
result of extensive consumer and trade research to provide the best
aftermarket, premium all-makes brake line."

Fellberg said that the DuraStop line features more than 9,500 part
numbers and offers 95 percent coverage back to 1976 for domestic and
import passenger cars and light-duty vehicles as well as selected
medium-duty trucks. He noted that, "DuraStop is the first aftermarket
line to be validated using SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)
J1652." The testing was conducted in an independent facility, Greening
Testing Laboratories in Detroit, under the supervision of GM's Vehicle
Development Center at the Milford Proving Ground. "We are confident
DuraStop is the best premium, all-makes brake line available," he
added.

According to Warren Silenzi, SPO marketing manager for brakes, the new
DuraStop line features a Limited Lifetime Warranty on disc brake pads
and drum brake shoes; all other parts, including drums, rotors, cable,
calipers and related hardware, carry a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty
(consumers should contact their GM dealer and/or ACDelco retailer for
complete details). DuraStop is packaged in the new ACDelco graphics
featuring product information in French, Spanish and English.

"We want consumers to ask for the ACDelco brand when they need brake
service," said Fellberg, adding that according to Automotive Market
Research Council estimates, the brake market is growing at an average
annual rate of 3.7 percent and will exceed $1.5 billion by the year
2000. "We're confident that DuraStop will position us to increase our
share of this market in the critical all-makes market segment."
