UAW and GM Reach Deal to End Indianapolis Strike

11/05/96

Reuters has reported that GM and striking UAW Local 23 reached an agreement to end the strike at GM's Indianapolis metal stamping plant. The agreement came 14 hours after the UAW announced that it had reached a tentative agreement on its national three year contract with GM. No details from either of the two agreements have been made public.

The strike at the Indianapolis plant was becoming very costly for GM and threatened to shut down nearly all of GM's North American truck production.
