New Mercedes-Benz Plant Selects Step2OOO Workflow Software for
Engineering Change Control Application

CINCINNATI, Oct. 23 -- Universal Document Management
Systems, Inc., a leading developer of workflow-enabling and
application development systems, today announced that its Step2OOO
Process Manager(TM) software has been selected for the engineering
change control (ECC) project at the new Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance,
Alabama.

This agreement was the result of a joint marketing relationship
between IBM and Universal Document Management Systems. As part of the
Mercedes-Benz contract, IBM will provide installation and
implementation services of Step2OOO for the ECC project. Step2OOO is a
rapid-application workflow development tool that delivers quick
prototyping and deployment of workflow solutions without coding. It
works with virtually any database as well as with multiple databases
concurrently within the same workflow application. Built into the
software is support for OLE as well as a library of APIs that easily
workflow-enables Lotus Notes, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, as well as
other third-party development environments. Step2OOO's open
architecture is also database, network, server platform, operating
system and client independent.

According to Delphi Consulting Group, Inc., a Boston consultancy
specializing in the workflow market, Step2OOO is a best-of-breed
software system that incorporates key rapid application development
(RAD) functions to specifically ease the development process and
speed-up application deployment. "Their approach helps shorten the
time to deployment of new applications, which closes the gap between
users and developers," said Tom Koulopoulos, Delphi's president.

Universal Document Management Systems, Inc., of Cincinnati, Ohio,
develops integrated workflow and application development software that
offers IT departments rapid design, prototyping and deployment of
workflow and document management applications. These products are
used in companies such as Rockwell Space Systems Division, PPG
Industries, GE Plastics and Abbott Laboratories. Universal Document
Management Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of MedPlus
, a leading supplier of information technology to the healthcare
industry.
