Porsche Sets 3,500-4,000 Sales Goal for Japan

10/24/96

Nikkei English News has reported that German luxury sports car maker Porsche AG has set an expanded annual sales goal of 3,500 to 4,000 cars annually in Japan. The company aims to reach that goal by 2000. In the year that ended in July 1996, Porsche had sold 1,477 Porsches in Japan, an increase of 13.3% compared to the previous year. After the United States, Japan is the second largest Porsche importer in the world.

This year's demand for the new Porsche Boxter and the 911 has driven Porsche to set its annual combined production for the two models at 30,000 cars. Posche has announced that the rush of orders that the company has received for the new cars means that Porsche workers and plants will operate at full capacity for the next three years.
