Nissan Considers Moving Some US car Production to Mexico

10/23/96

Reuters has reported that Nissan Motor Co Ltd announced last Monday that it is considering a plan to shift some of its passenger car production from the United States to Mexico. At the same time, however, a Nissan spokesman says the carmaker plans to maintain its current car output in the United States, but gave no further details.

The spokesman also called a recent Nikkei report that Nissan would start making recreational vehicles (RVs) in the United States in 1998 speculation: "we have nothing to say on the topic. The report is the paper's speculation."
