New Electric Auto Motor Magnet from Daido
10/04/96
Comline reports that Japan's Daido Steel company has developed a magnet for use in electric vehicle motors and is embarking on research to mass produce them and keep costs down. The new product is a radial anisotropic ring magnet with an energy capacity of 40 MGOe and exceptionally high power output. The big batteries used for electric vehicles requirement smaller and more powerful engine parts; Daido says its new magnet matches those requirements. Daido says the numerous motors in electric vehicles--for powering wipers, sensors, etc.--can all benefit from technological improvements in magnets and their manufacture.
