Nissan, Urban League Form Partnership

Heeding the Mitsubishi ethnic and harassment troubles of late Nissan has teamed up with the Los Angeles Urban League to increase opportunities for minorities and women, which includes increasing the number of minorities who own Nissan dealerships. This program will include training for women, and the giant automaker will look to the urban league for direction.

About 5% of Nissan's 1150 dealerships are owned by minorities. Japanese car makers have been criticized for providing few opportunities for minorities and women so when Jesse Jackson's Rainbow coalition came down on Mitsubishi two months ago Honda, Mitsu and now Nissan are going along with the "minority" program.
