Vespa Turns Fifty

09/23/96

Reuters reported that Vespa, the famed Italian motorscooter line produced by Piaggio, turned 50 this year. The company celebrated Vespa's anniversary by launching two new models, updated for the 21st century of by the addition of new environmental features. The report says that traditionalists shouldn't worry over the new models, as Vespa hasn't lost an ounce of the appeal glamorized by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in the 1952 movie "Roman Holiday."
