BMW to Provide Free Scheduled Maintenance Plan

09/19/96

BMW Announces Free Scheduled Maintenance

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 17 -- BMW of North America,
Inc. has announced that it will provide free scheduled maintenance for
three years or 36,000 miles with every 1997 model automobile sold on
or after October 1, 1996. The Scheduled Maintenance Program, which was
previously optional for all models except the 850Ci and 75OiL,
includes all factory-recommended periodic maintenance (Oil Service,
Inspection I and II, and a coolant and brake-fluid flush every two
years) as listed in the owner's BMW Service Booklet.

"BMW has been working hard to address the cost of ownership of our
automobiles," stated Victor Doolan, president of BMW of North America,
Inc. "Such initiatives as low-maintenance engines, service intervals
based on driving conditions instead of fixed distances, reducing
insurance costs and enhancing resale values have helped to make BMWs
among the lowest in their class in operating costs," added
Mr. Doolan. "Now, free scheduled maintenance removes the last obstacle
to BMW ownership."

Owners who purchased 1997 models prior to October 1, 1996 and who have
owned them for fewer than 12 months or 10,000 miles, may purchase the
Scheduled Maintenance Program for durations of 48 months/50,000 miles,
36 months/36,000 miles or 24 months/24,000 miles. Service must be
performed by an authorized BMW Dealer, and service intervals must be
followed as indicated by the vehicle's Service Interval
Indicator. Some exclusions apply.
