Ford Stock Falls on Concerns over Latin America
09/11/96
Reuters has reported that Ford Motor Company's stock dropped on Wall Street Tuesday amid worries over the carmaker's operations in Latin America. Ford was off 7/8 at 31 1/8 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
Ford said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday that its performance in Brazil in the second half would be a lot worse than the first half. In late August, the company announced that James Padilla will replace Gurminder Bedi as president of Ford Brazil and Argentina, effective on November 1.
Bear Stearns analyst Nicholas Lobaccaro said poor Brazilian performance could delay Ford's earnings recovery and expose weakness in its international operations.
