09/06/96

Chrysler International Continues Record Pace

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 4 -- Chrysler International
continues its record sales pace, with vehicle sales outside of North
America up 17 percent for the month of August and for the calendar
year to date.

The Jeep(R) Cherokee continues as the biggest seller for Chrysler
internationally, accumulating 45,711 units through August, up slightly
from last year, followed by the Chrysler Voyager minivan, with 36,341
units, up 24 percent over the first eight months of 1995.

Europe continues to pace Chrysler's international growth, posting
68,727 units sold through August (up 21 percent over 1995), and 8,880
units for the month. European sales were driven by the continued
popularity of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, in right-hand-drive and
left-hand-drive versions, up 168 percent for August over last year.

"Our Jeep vehicles and our minivans continue to win new customers for
Chrysler around the world and provide the foundation of our
international business," said Thomas C. Gale, Executive Vice President
of Product Design and International Operations. "And with products
like Grand Cherokee and Neon gaining popularity, we are greatly
expanding our reach around the world."

All international markets combined, Chrysler International posted
sales of 143,550 units, up 17 percent over the first eight months of
1995. Year-to- date sales for the European, Asia/Pacific, Latin
American and Middle East/Africa regions all reported double-digit
percentage increases.
