Workers at Ford's Hertz Corp. Settle Chicago Strike

09/04/96

Reuters reported that striking workers at the Ford-owned Hertz Corporation ratified a new three-year contract, ending a week-long strike at Hertz's Chicago car rental operations. About 300 workers--all members of Teamster Local 781--were expected to return to work on September 3, the company said.

Hertz said the strike affected O'Hare International Airport, Midway Airport and two downtown Chicago locations. Hertz continued working throughout the strike by replacing striking workers with management personnel.
