Mitsubishi Recalls 300,000 Automobiles in Japan and Australia

07/26/96

A defect found in the front wheel brake hose in six different Mitsubishi models has led to the recall of 298,462 cars. According to a report the Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Motors of Australia filed with the Japanese Ministry of Transportation, a portion of the front wheel brake hose lacks durability and could fissure, leading to a potential decline in braking power.

Five of the six recalled models were made by Mitsubishi Motors in Japan, while 1 more was made by Mitsubishi Motors of Australia. The models include the Sigma, Diamante, Pajero, GTO, and Diamante Wagon.

The recall affects 2000 Diamante Wagons manufactured between November 18, 1992 and May 31, 1995. For the other 5 models it was 296,000 units manufactured between April 2, 1990 and February 24, 1994.
