Ryder Explores Sale of Consumer Truck Rental Business

Ryder Systems Inc reported that it is trying to sell its consumer truck rental business and that it is currently discussing the issue with potential buyers. The company said it was to early to say whether or when the sale will be completed.

Talking about the decision to sell part of the company's business, Ryder System Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer M. Anthony Burns said, "most of Ryder's business is done with other companies. This decision is in line with our announced strategy to focus the majority of our resources and energy on the businesses in which we have long-term contractual agreements with our customers -- integrated logistics on a global basis, full service truck leasing and public transportation services."
