Ford Ads Feature Those Who Worked with Henry Ford

07/16/96

Ford Motor Company's new ads will feature 80 to 100 year old former Ford employees who worked for Henry Ford. Mark Wells of Wells Rich Green ad agency said he researched pension files to find retired Ford employees who might have had personal experiences with Henry Ford when he was their boss.

The ads will use the personal experiences of the workers to nostalgically link the company's history to its present and future. The personal element is supposed to create the notion that Ford Corporation has "family ties" with its workers, and that those ties give the corporation a level of quality and commitment that other carmakers don't have.

Henry Ford founded the company in 1902 and died in 1947. In addition to founding the Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford was known for confronting unions in their attempts to improve working conditions and for social prejudices.
