Honda to Increase Presence in Thailand

06/21/96

NikkeiNet reports that by 1998 Honda Motor Company plans to have boosted its number of Thai motorcycle dealerships and four wheel drive vehicle dealerships by 70% and 30%, respectively. Thailand is the largest vehicle market in Southeast Asia, and Thai demand for motorcycles has surpassed Japan's.

The motorcycle market in Thailand is expected to grow to 2 million units within a few years, and Honda hopes to capture half of it. Honda will strengthen its sales network in regional cities and boost local output by 30% to 1.2 million units, including exports.
