Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to Supply Air Conditioners to GM

Starting in 1997, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. will supply GM with 100,000 auto air conditioners a year. The firm is building a factory for the air conditioning equipment near Indianapolis, Indiana, and is eager to break into the U.S. market, which accounts for 45% of the world market.
Mass production at the new facility will start in January 1997 with an initial output of 400,000 units a year. Production should expand to 600,000 a year in 1998.
