Parker Johnstone Ready For Portland CART Race
06/18/96
Parker Johnstone, ex-Bondurant school race driver instructor and former TACH on-air anchor is looking forward to next Sunday's Budweiser/G.I. Joes CART race at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. It will be a sort of homecoming for Parker, as he resides in Redmond, Ore. He will be aboard his Motorola Reynard Honda and will be making the short trek to P.I.R. from his ranch, just down the road, where he is conducting his spring cattle roundup. He will herd his 45 head of cattle from winter pastures, immunize them, and move them to summer pastures. Parker said, "there will be a group of us on horses, another on the ground, we and will have four legged canine help. It's kind of like Indy Car racing, in that you all have to work together and trust each other and have confidence in each other when you're dealing with unpredictable 700 pound animals. If you're not careful, understeer takes on a whole new meaning."
