Another New California Race Track Breaks Ground
06/14/96
Legendary Ascot Par, the dirt oval promoted and made famous by the flamboyant "waste Materials" baron and race car owner J.C. Agajanian, lives again. Agajanian's sons Cary and Chris have made arrangements to put a half-mile dirt oval in the center of the Los Angeles Fairgrounds horse racing track in Pomona, Ca, annual site of the NHRA Winter and Fall Nationals. The $200,000 facility has not been completed, but already has three events booked. World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Nov. 1-2; Sprint Car Racing Association, Nov. 16; and the 100 lap Turkey Night Grand Prix midget race, Thanksgiving night.
