GM wins Computerworld Smithsonian Award

General Motors, Troy, MI has won the top spot in the Transportation category of the 1996 Computerworld Smithsonian Awards Origram for their OnStar applications. OnStar uses in-car integration of cellular telephone, global positioning System, and vehicle electronics with a 24-hour customer assistance center to enhance personal safety, vehicle security, and driver convenience. There were 341 nominees for this award.
