Ford Follows GM, Chrysler With May Sales Increase

As expected, the sales of Ford's luxo line of Lincolns were weak for the May sales period, as were the deliveries of T-Birds and Mercury Cougars....all cars that are slated to be restyled. Ford's overall sales, thanks to a 5% increase in light truck units, were up 1.8 % for the May sales period. FOMOCOS scrap with the hot Honda Accord saw the Taurus take the lead over the Japanese import with 162,156 of the newly styled four-door family cars going over the curb at dealerships.

The slow selling Thunderbird and Cougar may be replaced with a new small sport utility much like the cars recently debuted by Toyota, Rav, and Suzuki, X-90
